Part 1. Name three techniques an author uses to create character and give an example from the story for each one.
One technique is the characters physical description. I will use Aaron as my example. His physical description is a 10 year old boy who is a very good roller-skater. Another technique is what the character says. Aaron said,"What are you doing you're hurting his wing!" and "Cossacks! You're all Cossacks!" This helps to reveal what the character is like. The last technique is what other characters say about that character. Aaron's father said to Aaron's mother,"Sophie, did you see this? Ten years old and better that Dr. Belasco could do. He's a genius!" Very good answer!
2. Use each of these vocabulary words in an original sentence that explains something about the story. You may change the form of the words.
assassinate - The terrorists planned to assassinate the king and take over the country.
stoop -The old lady sat on her stoop and watched the kids walk by her house.
frenzy - I was very frenzied when I heard we were going to Florida for spring break.
mascot - The mascot for the school was a bulldog named Cooper.
thrash- My sister was kicking and thrashing in her bed last night.
3. Write a paragraph to answer this question. Be sure you relate your answer to the plot of the story.
Can a person "make up" for terrible things that have happened to someone else?
I think that a person can try to "make up" for terrible things that happened to someone else but no one can erase the past. Aaron could have given his grandmother the bird to try and "make up" for the that she had as a little girl but he would not have made his grandmother forget her goat. It could have made her happy to have a pet but she still would be upset because of the goat. Even though you cannot erase the past, it is nice to give someone a gift to make them feel better. It could make that person have a better day because of you. So you cannot "make up" for terrible things that have happened to someone else but you can try to cheer them up by talking to them or giving them a gift.
